It is really a nice read for football fans, and it does touch on several topics that are not very familiar to a common fan. I read this in 45 minutes, but would likely learn more by watching first half of any football match. There is a good mix of subjects (tactics, economics, historical figures), but there is far from enough written in each chapter. The reality is, however, that I highly recommend Tifo's YouTube video content (in particular their Tifo IRL breakdowns of games) to all football fans. The only criticism I have for this book is the garish artwork and layout (this isn't necessarily a criticism of the book in isolation, but of the design language used by the entire Tifo organisation).

This pocket-size guide is a must-have for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of the game Goal. The bad thing for me, was that I purchased the kindle version which is useless as the book is not able to read on a kindle, book is putting it lightly, its more like a PDF. Excellent for anyone that likes football and a perfect way to upgrade your knowledge into the world of football if your understanding is limited. It’s about the coach, the club owner, and the director of football, who are watching, scouting and scheming from the side-lines.As such, I had the book on the top of my Christmas wish list and was delighted to receive it as a present. For me, Tifo's "How To Watch Football" was a bad case of high/misguided expectations that were not met at all. I'd have preferred they covered about half as many topics at twice the depth, as each chapter was slightly disappointing as they were too short to have any real insight for anyone that's not only recently discovered football. Don't remember when I started watching Tifo on YouTube, but it's been years, and I've learned so much about a sport I love as a result (also been reading The Athletic since it started it's UK coverage). For a newbie football fan this book would give a clear vision concerning football rules and how it works with it's simple explanations and nice illustrations.
