About this deal

In the group, I might talk too much about my “work wives,” my friends I go to when I have questions or need help. My relationships will be publicized. As an example of what we’re trying to do with the new hires. Another Venus. It’s important to know the difference between lust and love. Love means you do whatever you can FOR the person; lust means you do whatever you can to GET the person. This applies more to a tv show I’m watching than to my life, I think. Maybe it means I should apply what I’m learning from the show to my own life?

Venus in Sagittarius: Flirtation. A travelling minstrel serenades a beautiful young huntress. The lute symbolizes the pleasure-loving nature of Venus, and the bow the far-seeking adventurousness of Sagittarius." For the Sun in Sagittarius ‘Enthusiasm’ pictured above, the card image description reads, “A bright intelligent head haloed by the sun sits at the top of a traditional alchemical jar. Within a jar, a figure floats among the stars, sun and moon.” The Jupiter in Aries ‘Enterprise’ artwork also pictured above is described, “The hand diagram of the chiromancers shows the complete set of planetary qualities. Jupiter’s nature in palmistry is to denote the achievement of enterprise and ambition, where full use is made of all talents available. The acorns are simply the seeds of potential.” More Saturn! I really did shuffle, I swear! Its strength is that it uses the traditional art, the firm foundation if you will, of astrology in a new way. On the other hand, it might be too traditional and faithful for the meaning to be really clear?Caroline Smith is an internationally renowned artist whose work features recurring goddess imagery. Together with her late husband, leading astrologer and author John Astrop, she has created a number of powerful divination systems showcasing her symbolic and bold style. Indulge in the profound world of astrology and explore the timeless reverence for the life-sustaining force of the Sun with this intriguing book. The guide book that accompanies Oracle of the Radiant Sun is fantastic. As I have already mentioned, it really helped me to connect with the cards. Plus, it contains a wealth of information. I like that they point out that: Better still, the book gives examples of how to integrate all the information both as far as ‘Reading the Associations’ goes and later when explaining the spreads. In other words they don’t just throw information at you. They demonstrate how to integrate the information in a practical sense. This book is definitely beginner-friendly.

And here’s Hercules killing the Nemean lion with his bare hands. Well, at least it’s a Scorpio card that’s not totally negative. I will need to have some endurance today. But all will be well when the stress of the work week is over! Smith has designed the cards to follow the basic structure of the commonly accepted Tarot. This means there are 78 cards in total (22 majors, 16 courts and 40 pips). There is an emphasis on progressive reading, led by symbols, and for this reason the authors have decided to omit the traditional symbolism of Wands, Pentacles, Swords and Cups in favour of directly relating to the four elements. In this logic, the Major Arcana has been related to the fifth element, Spirit and can be seen as the child of the four suits when combined together. These are the inner qualities of the person asking for the reading, manifesting in their life. In general, the artwork of these cards is very abstract, but also in some cases very graphic, especially the Lovers (or Choice, as Ms. Smith names it). I would therefore not recommend it for very young Tarot users or for the “sensitive” viewer who is easily upset by graphic nudity. Nevertheless, the cards are beautifully illustrated: devotees of abstract art are most likely to find the images appealing.

Today is the first day I’m leading a small group of staff as a support for new employees as we work from home. It’s only 5 people, and we’re just supposed to have a zoom chat. But it’s kind of the first thing I’ve ever led at work. So it’s broadening my horizons and I’m just going for it without much preparation. Sounds like Aries! Week 3: Optimism. Moon in Sagittarius. This card indicates that a long trip or travel is necessary. There will be a reunion with people from L’s past. I won’t go through the entire Reading but will select certain months to write about which I think are of interest.

The weekly cards should shed some light on the Loss card which is the overall influence for the month of January. The artwork is simply stunning. The imagery is rich and symbolic from many religious and mythological traditions, including Judaism, Islam, Christianity and Voodoo as well as Egyptian, Minoan, and Greco-Roman. The images, woodcut style in lovely pastels, are collages of symbols and figures , at first appearing unrelated, but when studied, opening up to release their meanings. It is visually easy to recognize the suit of each card by its layout – each suit has a different design which speaks to the characteristics of the relevant planet: Mercury cards are divided in half diagonally (it is the sign of duality and The Twins!) with a different image or symbol in each half. The Sun cards are an arched portal (the doorway of our identity) with two areas for images. So the layout and imagery in combination speaks to our unconscious and takes our understanding of the cards into a deeper place enhancing the written interpretations.
