About this deal

Apples, pears, hint of oak, honey, again a little floral, vanilla, caramel. But it's balanced very nicely. Glenmorangie and Glenlivet are two of the most iconic whisky producers in the world, with a long history of producing high-quality spirits. Both distilleries have become synonymous with quality, craftsmanship and innovation over the years. In 1824, a local farmer called George Smith founded one of the first legally licenced Speyside distilleries in the remote area of Glenlivet. There he began producing very high-standard Scotch whisky which far exceeded that of the remaining illicit distillers. Nose: Savour the sweet blend of apricot, pineapple and greengages interlaced with citrus blossom aromas, finished off with a light toasted teacake.

Glenlivet Single Malt Scotch Whisky : The Whisky Exchange Glenlivet Single Malt Scotch Whisky : The Whisky Exchange

Celebrated by whisky connoisseurs, The Glenlivet 18 and the Glenfiddich 18 are two of the most luxurious Scotch whiskies. These Speyside single malt distilleries each offer a unique taste profile that will surely captivate your palate. OK, that's not a serious title really. What I'm saying is that this is so, sooooo drinkable! I've just finished one sample, (which was to be my third and final drink of the day after reviewing a couple of others) but I've found myself pouring another. The taste is silky caramel, with a rich mix of pears and apples juxtaposed with cinnamon and warm oak. Subsequent sips bring out some honey and hints of sherry. More complex than I expected, but not overly so - and it is significantly richer than you would expect from the nose. When selecting my favourite, I find myself reaching for Glenlivet’s 15-year-old expression. Not only does this whisky boast a long-standing reputation as an iconic producer of premium Scotch, but its rich and oaked nose with notes of chewy resinous wood balanced by a well-balanced acidity is sure to impress even the most seasoned connoisseurs. Furthermore, Glenlivet’s 15 year old has been matured in French Limousin oak casks adding a depth of flavour that is simply unparalleled.

It's a deeper, darker 'livet, but still not too heavy. Many different foods pair well with the Glenlivet. It blends well with salmon, smoked fish, and pork thanks to its light flavour and gentle complexity. Finish: this is where the whisky really shines. Cherries, dark chocolate and walnuts with nutmeg, cloves, oak and raisins lingering longer than expected. Very balanced. I almost liked the 12 better. It is "entry level" and maybe expectations are lower. Not having any 12 I once used this to introduce a niece to the world of single malts because of its anaemic ABV. But to an experienced palate I agree it's a little boring.

The Glenlivet 18 Year Old Whisky | Master of Malt

Palate: More sour than before: Lime with tart pineapple, and some bitterness from nutmeg and walnut skins. Hi Greg, thanks for the kind words. I havent had the Fiddich 18 in a while. But I can recall liking the 15 over the other 2. I guess I can only partially agree with what you said. Palate: Opens with the smooth creaminess and tartness of a mouth-watering limoncello, but without the sweetness. This develops to guava, smoothed over with faint caramel. Above the guava are other light flavors of nutmeg and wild strawberry. Finish: This robust, full-bodied beverage is filled with fragrant notes of spicy oak that linger on the palate. I need to get some more samples out to you before we fly out! So much to do!!!!!! It was in my opinion the best of the Glenlivet's that I've tried so far, hands down. However Systemdown assured me that Nadurra was a good little whisky and he proved me correct with his sample of Nadurra and so when I saw the 18 year old Glenlivet I was a little intrigued. This is different from what I remember; I recall tasting more green apples and pears in the 12. Is this really the same whisky as the ones in the green bottle? Or have my senses just changed? Is it both? It’s been a few years since I last tried this whisky after all. The Palate brings warming spices, This is lovely and smooth. Again, green apples, sultanas, some sherry, honey and winter spices. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect.
