About this deal

There is also a range of Salter ‘Let’s go healthy’ air fryer recipes so you enjoy fried food with little or no oil. The Dual Air did a marvellous job of roasting some new potatoes to produce rough and ready homemade wedges. I simply cut them in half, tossed them in olive oil, and cooked them at full power for 18 minutes – my children loved the end result. Potatoes and sweetcorn by Salter Dual Air. Sausages cooked in Salter Aerogrill Air fryers work by convection, meaning they circulate hot air around your food, ensuring every bit of surface area is exposed to the oil and heat. You simply need to spray or pour a little oil onto whatever you’re cooking before switching on the appliance – although you don’t always have to use oil if you don’t want to. Add just a dash, however, and a clever chemical process called the Maillard reaction creates a crispy result with far less fat – up to 99% in some cases. As well as observing how well they cook a single portion of potatoes and vegetables, or single pieces of protein such as fish and steak, we also fill each air fryer to its advertised capacity. This shows us how consistently each appliance cooks across the board, to ensure that four-portion air fryer really is big enough for a family dinner.

Grilling foods has always been a healthier alternative to frying as it uses less oil and melts the fat from meat. In the long run grilling meats, fish and veggies is a lighter option that helps prevent heart diseases and is better for the body. With its five different settings that enable you to grill, bake, roast, air fry and dehydrate, it's an air fryer with a difference. We reviewed each one to see how the fryer fared…We run these tests on both the manual cooking settings and any automatic presets they might have for common ingredients or dishes. Some air fryers also come with additional functions, such as baking and roasting. In these cases, we use a similar testing method, looking for speedy, even results. We found the settings very easy to use, although a thorough read of the booklet is recommended. You simply select the type of cooking, temperature and time. The booklet is a lifesaver, as it has full instructions for every type of food possible.

While the Salter comes with a recipe booklet, there will obviously be some of your favourite recipes that aren’t included. The best models will have a number of basics you should look out for. These include weight and temperature settings, so you can adjust the heat and cook time to suit your ingredients. And since cooking time is reduced, the nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and all-important flavours are retained when grilled.

The price tag puts the Salter into the upper end of the market but as it does multiple ways of cooking this can be more beneficial than buying multiple cooking devices. Also, air-fried dishes can be just as healthy as if you had oven-baked them if you use no oil - and there are lots of healthy from-scratch recipes available with the Salter air fryers.

The 360-degree stirring paddle is incredibly handy and ensures food is evenly and consistently cooked without the need for shaking your food mid-cooking cycle. Nine automatic cooking functions take most of the guesswork out of air frying but there’s still an option to manually set the time and temperature if need be. What’s more, if you’re using these presets, the Genius+ (and every other Genius model in the range) automatically adjusts the temperature and stirring paddle during cooking so your food isn’t overcooked. Like baking but hate the mess? Then the Aero Grill is great for effortlessly cooking full-size cakes, bread, rolls or cupcakes. Despite being a budget-friendly option, the T17023 was no slouch in testing, cooking oven classics such as spring rolls and hash browns to a commendable crispness and performing solidly when tasked with more delicate items like meat and vegetables. If you need to cook a whole meal in one go, look for models with multiple cooking zones. The Power Air Fryer Oven is a multi-functional cooker—an air fryer, rotisserie oven and dehydrator all in one. And enjoy homemade crispy chips in minutes with our chip fryers, available in a range of capacities. While most deep fat fryers come with a removable bowl for convenient cleaning, others come with a rise and fall basket to help drain excess oil from food. If you were cooking meats, you would do exactly the same but insert the temperature probe once done - which will tell you how cooked it is in the middle. Overall, Air frying is healthier than deep frying in oil - cutting calories by around 70% and a lot less fat. In use, this fryer is reasonably versatile, producing decent results across a range of foods. I used it first to cook frozen chips and Quorn nuggets. The latter were perfect, but the former could have done with more crisping, despite having had 20 minutes at the maximum 200℃. As I couldn’t raise the temperature, I cooked further batches a little longer, and was rewarded with better results. I lightly sprayed some potato wedges and added sea salt and paprika to add to our lunch- and they were so tasty and took just 20 mins. The air fryer's LED touch screen really does give off those high tech vibes without it feeling too overwhelming to learn to use.
