I can’t say much more, I don’t have any major complaints. It was just a good book, with characters I liked and a story that stayed interesting. I think anyone over the age of ten could enjoy it. Three more spine-tingling mysteries for Scarlet and Ivy to solve in the creepily atmospheric Rookwood School… This is not the only excitement for the twins and best friend Ariade. They are following clues about their mother. What was her real name? Why did she use someone else’s? Why did they never learn she’d been a pupil at Rookwood too? The first unputdownable mystery in the thrilling and bestselling SCARLET AND IVY series, perfect for fans of MURDER MOST UNLADYLIKE, SINCLAIR’S MYSTERIES and THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD AND EVIL.

Publication Order of Scarlet and Ivy Books

SC: I am definitely more like Ivy, I think. I am quite shy and bookish but have the occasional urge to have fun and go on adventures! But I have to say that Scarlet is my favorite twin to write as I sort of live vicariously through her. She isn’t afraid to stand up for herself and loves getting in all sorts of trouble. GM: Finally, my nine-year-old son would like to ask what made you choose to add in the character of Rose in The Whispers in the Walls? Surprisingly, Scarlet’s behaviour was really different in this book😶 She wasn’t cruel towards Ariadne anymore …..that was a relief❤️ And Ariadne was way too smart…and I loved her surprise entry!!!! SC: I really love the twins’ best friend Ariadne. She is so enjoyable to write as she’s very clever and funny, whilst at the same time being terribly “uncool.” I wanted to write someone that the twins might write off as annoying or weird, only to discover that once you get to know her she is fantastic—brave and fun and a wonderfully loyal friend. I would love to have a friend like her and I would strive to be the same way myself!

SC: There were so many that were really fun to write—particularly the school trip scenes in The Lights Under The Lake and the Halloween ones in The Curse in the Candlelight. But I think my favorite was the letter that the twins find from their mother. I really felt as if she were writing through me—and I cried a lot! When shy Ivy's trouble-making twin sister Scarlet goes missing from Rookwood school, Ivy is invited to 'take her place' - she must think like Scarlet, act like Scarlet, become Scarlet. Determined to solve the riddle of her sister's disappearance, Ivy agrees - and the hunt for the truth will prove unexpectedly adventurousBRAVO! Truly, a around of applause is owed to Sophie Cleverly and The Lost Twin. I'm well out of the age range that this book is aimed at, but I absolutely adored every bit of it! I can only imagine how much excitement younger Jessica would have had, upon discovering this story. So many things I love are expertly wrapped up in here. Forbidding boarding schools, terrible headmistresses, brave girls, and tons of secrets. What more could a reader ask for? I also like how in this book the differences between the twins become a little clearer, partly because other characters decide to abuse those differences. Although their thought and speaking pattern is still very much the same, and therefore I couldn't always remember who's point of view I was reading, I like how Scarlet and Ivy are two different people in this book, making different choices and having a different influence on other people and each other. Scarlet, Ivy, and their friends get to go on a week-long residential trip to a countryside hotel by the edge of a reservoir, but Rookwood’s mysteries are determined to follow them. The legends surrounding the town drowned beneath the reservoir seem to be coming true, and is there more to one of their friends than she is letting on? Both mysteries build in tension and wonder, revealing kidnapping, treachery, new family and memories. Rookwood’s reputation is crumbling around them, as girls leave in droves. Will the Ballet recital mend it? Or will it be the death of the twins?

Nasty notes. Frightening dreams. Rumours running wild. The girls of Rookwood School are in danger once more... I LOVED this book, and unusual for me as l prefer romantic novels, will most definitely be reading the rest in the series. Locals say that at night the troubled souls buried in the ancient flooded graveyard no longer rest in peace... The idea for Scarlet and Ivy came to Cleverly during a writing exercise at university. She’d been asked to imagine a character returning to a room they hadn’t been in for a long time when she’d visualised two beds, one girl and the remnants of a diary. Inspired by films, music, video games and her favourite authors, including Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, Cleverly’s Scarlet and Ivy series weaves classic themes of family, friendship and adversity into each mysterious tale. This is the third book in the series and I quite enjoyed what the author did with this book. It kinda felt like she wrapped up the trilogy. The first book had a loose end, the second book had a few loose ends and this book is working through those loose ends carefully and wraps them up very nicely. Of course, it's all not very surprising. And if you start this book thinking it's a whodunnit you will end up disappointed, but as a boarding school adventure it works perfectly fine. I still can’t believe what happened in the end😨🥶 The end literally gave me goosebumps!!! The end….no…the whole book, was gripping😁 I loved this book even more than the last two ones!!! Scarlet and Ivy” is a series of young adult novels by American author Sophie Cleverly. The first novel of the series was “The Lost Twin” a highly popular and critically acclaimed novel that was such a success that it spawned an entire novel series that is still ongoing. Sophie Cleverly was born in 1989 in Bath, a small town in Maine. Growing up, she was very much interested in children’s literature and read the likes of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett who incidentally write both children and adult literature. Her “Scarlet and Ivy” series has been greatly inspired by “The Graveyard Book” and “Coraline” by Gaiman and “Tiffany Aching” by Pratchett. What she especially liked about these novels was that they were beautiful, sad, scary, and funny all at the same time. She was quite the reader and would visit the city library and borrow as many books as she could to read during the week. In addition to these, she would also take as many books as she could from the older classes bookshelves, as she had already read all the books in her class. It is not surprising that her novels have been compared to Nancy Drew as she absolutely loved to read the likes of The Famous Five, Nancy Drew, The Baby Sitters Club and Goosebumps. Of these series she collected and read nearly every title. Aside from detective fiction she also read a lot of mystery novels which made her believe that she wanted to become a mystery author when she grew up. Set in the 1930s at Rookwood School - a creepy boarding school with plenty of dark secrets - the books follow twin sisters, troublesome Scarlet and quiet Ivy, as they investigate the disturbing mysteries that lurk behind closed doors.

Ich liebe Internatsgeschichten A letter arrives for Ivy telling her she can take Scarlet’s place at the school. Little does Ivy know she will be not only taking Scarlet’s place, but becoming Scarlet herself! She has to pretend to be her sister. Pushy, loud, feisty and even rude! Confused and scared of the imposing Miss Fox who has demanded this of her, Ivy settles in to Scarlet’s old room at the school, and discovers part of a diary from Scarlet. Something’s not right about all this, and Scarlet’s words prove it. Madame Zelda, the new ballet teacher, was someone I felt that was a suspect at first. I felt that she was the responsible one for everything that was happening... but no. I was totally wrong! In my opinion, the author was super clever, trying to make Madame Zelda seem super suspicious so no-one would think it was anyone else, even though Madame Zelda was innocent. I think anyone who doesn't get too scared by stalkers and the mysterious disappearances of girls, along with teachers who throw children off rooftops, will really really enjoy it.Scarlet and Ivy are resigned to staying at Rookwood School for Girls, all the better for getting rid of the horrible Principal Batholomew. With a new acting Principal, Rookwood will at least be safer to attend. Or maybe not? I enjoyed this book but would be better starting with the first book in the series and working my way to this one. I would've liked more dance including in the story as the cover and title are a bit misleading but there was a good continuing mystery to the story of Scarlet and Ivy.
