Marcus, Ryland, and Theo are the H. They are very wealthy, but we never hear about them actually working. They live in a huge mansion, have nice clothes, and garage filled with expensive cars, etc. Ayla is realistic compared to other mafia FMCs in the sense that once she entered this world she didn't remain completely innocent or turn into a complete badass. Don't get me wrong, she is awesome, it's just she's her own brand of awesome. She is trying to get tougher but isn't automatically amazing at shooting guns and fighting people.This book is good and dark. But I guess it gotta be dark when the three love interests are genuine stalkers.

I really love reading about female side characters who have some sort of personality other than being a best friend or a jealous ex. Rose loves to read angsty books but when it comes to TV comedies are her bread and butter. She loves reading reverse harem novels which she discovered several years ago and has never stopped reading them. For the majority of the book I thought it was going to be a pnr. Don’t ask why, I don’t know! Maybe it was the ethereal feel to her dreams or her “connections” with the guys? I was expecting vampire or shifters at the end…so don’t be like me. It has zero pnr action. It's a RH, but there are only a couple steamy scenes and those are with one guy.Ayla comes from foster homes. She's been used and abused, she's been beaten, she has struggled to make a life for herself. Ayla is badass. She's always looked out for herself and doesn't need a knight in shining armor. She damn well doesn't need THREE, but she gets it whether she likes it or not. It seems that the odds are in favor of Marcus (or even Theo or Ryland) winning the ruthless game, but what if...what if they concede to their queen, Ayla? What if they want to follow under her rule?! And there's also Ayla's mysterious origins, too. Call it a hunch, but I won't be surprised if she ends up being Luca D’Addario's daughter or something. I remember Theo saying Luca has no children, but Ayla's age and the time of Luca's wife's death match up!

This foursome is exciting and sexy. I’m so excited to explore more of their dynamic and how see how their story unfolds! Also, I need to not have to live with that cliffy for too long— ya girl is over here biting her nails in anticipation for answers!

One random night out at a club changed her life.. forever. She'll never be the same. She didn't have much going for her and she still doesn't. i liked! marcus was the main character here and we didn't have any groupal scene (i was expecting, i confess).......... i can say marcus is hot. that's it. But then they are all brought close together when they witness a tragic event together. They now have to work together to uncover a bizarre mystery even as they protect themselves.

A lot of the issues I had with book one were fixed up a bit in this one. The pacing is better, there's more of the plot that was promised, the sex-to-plot ratio is a lot better. There may be the same number of sex scenes in this book but I thought they were placed in the story much more naturally. Callie Rose’s novel “The Lie” is an enjoyable novel that follows on from the events of the first novel of the “Kings of Linwood Academy” series of novels. But see, the heroine's life is shit and that's what makes it so dark. It might have mafia undertones and talks about gang wars or whatever, what makes the story dark is Ayla herself. after the accident, the guy becomes obsessed with the girl who was capable of saving him without knowing who he was. that's why he involves his best friends almost brothers, ryland and theo to help him protecting ayla.I skimmed further and Marcus is still alive but I can’t read anymore to find when and how this story ends. Callie Rose is definitely one of my favorite RH authors. I love her writing style as it's always polished and so smooth to read. She does a great job of creating a solid and interesting plot, but also blends the relationship building aspect between the characters throughout the story without it just being about sex. There's a decent amount of steam, but you know it's more about love than just lust. I really appreciate that.
