About this deal

Keep in a dry and cool place away from strong odours and Direct sunlight avoid storing in any extremes of temperatures. One of the most popular product lines was the dragée, a bite-sized sweet with a chocolate coating, based on a confection popular in Vienna. The name was eventually anglicised to Payne’s Poppets, and the trademark was registered in 1936.

The pink box is very bright, and the flavour is that of strawberry milkshake, not just strawberry, which is a little bit of fun. I just can’t believe we didn’t already have a fruit cream Poppet available! These sweets are approx 1.4cm long 1.2cm wide by 1cm deep and weigh approx 2.2g - 2.7g per sweet with an average weight of approx 2.5g per sweet which will give you approx 40-46 sweets per an old fashion quarter of a pound (113g) or you get approx 76-80 Sweets per 200g weigh out bag.I always get nostalgic when it comes to Poppets, as they are one of the sweets I associate with childhood, but I will try and put aside any bias a little.

Poppets (or Paynes Poppets) are a confectionery manufactured by Fox's, first introduced in 1937 by Payne's fine confectionery in Croydon. When originally introduced, only Raisin Poppets were available. More flavours have since been introduced, including Mint, Toffee and Orange. [1] [2] History [ edit ]The orange and mint varieties are made of a fondant centre with a dark chocolate covering, while the strawberry fondant and other varieties have a milk chocolate coating. A salted fudge caramel variety was made available in 2021. The Leicester factory was sold in 2020 and production of Poppets was relocated to York. [5] [6] Flavours and formats [ edit ] Despite the success of Poppets, George Payne & Co continued as one of the largest tea blenders in Britain. Just Brazils was a top ten boxed chocolate by 1996, and Poppets was the eighth highest selling children’s confectionery.
