About this deal

Succulents need shallow pots to thrive. But, they can also survive in deep pots as long as the soil drains well. Too deep of a pot can cause water-logged soil and root rot. The size of the pot should match the size and rate of growth of the plant. This stops overwatering. In addition to fertilising, regular soil amendments like compost, manure, or other organic matter can enhance soil structure and fertility, ensuring your plants have a nourishing foundation to grow. High quality potting soil is the lifeblood of indoor plants, providing essential nutrients and allowing for proper drainage. I’m speaking from a place of many potting soil disasters! However, it’s important to note that decomposing pot fillers can cause issues in the long term, particularly for plants in larger pots.

Fibreglass is a popular choice for large planters because of its lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant properties. By choosing the right heavy filler materials for your specific gardening needs, you can ensure that your plants remain stable and secure, allowing them to flourish.Keep in mind that large planters can become quite heavy. If you need to move your planter around quite a bit, make sure to fill it with something light like styrofoam peanuts. You can also use any of the above-mentioned materials to fill smaller planters. Adding the top layer Metal planters on the other hand are the newest offering, notcommonly used withina tradtional English-country styled garden, but for those looking for modern designs andsleek lines, then this choice of material just can't be beaten in a more contemporary garden setting. Remember, proper care and attention to your plants’ needs are key to maintaining a vibrant and successful container garden. Be careful not to overwater the newly repotted plant. Make sure it gets adequate sunshine, otherwise it won’t be able to photosynthesize properly. Create fantastic focal points to display your plants with our selection of garden baskets, plant pots, planters, and sleepers. Add character to your garden and enjoy the versatility to move your favourite flowers and shrubs around throughout the year. Available in heavy-duty wire, willow, or rattan, our hanging baskets are a great way to brighten up your space.

Repotting succulents is key for their wellbeing. Don’t do it too often though! Here are some signs to look out for: The planter's soil capacity is an impressive 350-400 litres (approx) so that all of your carrots and parsnips will have a lovely depth of compost in which to develop and grow. Deep Root Planter Features: Pot depth is key for succulents. The soil needs to be well-draining and the container shouldn’t be too deep. Too much soil can cause water retention and root rot. Plus, what the pot is made of matters too. Terracotta is better for air circulation and drainage than plastic. Fertilising and soil maintenance are essential for keeping your plants healthy and happy in large pots.Drainage holes are a non-negotiable feature for large plant pots. They ensure proper water drainage, preventing root rot and promoting healthy plant growth. If you can, choose a wood such as cedar that is naturally rot-resistant if you want your planter to last a few years, see our guide to building a cedar planter box for more tips. Using filler material is a smart idea, as it not only saves money but also makes the pot lighter and easier to handle. Additionally, filler materials can improve drainage and prevent waterlogging.

The care for succulents varies based on the type and origin. Generally, succulents like bright light and warm temperatures. But, this depends on the species. Bright direct sunlight is suitable for Echeveria, Sedum and Crassula and the temperature should be between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C). For Haworthia, Gasteria and Aloe Vera, moderate sunlight or partial shade is preferred and the temperature should be between 50°F to 70°F (10°C to 21°C). Sansevieria trifasciata and Snake Plant should be exposed to fluorescent light with a temperature below 40°F (4.5°C). By carefully considering your gardening needs and the types of plants you’re growing, you can make the right choice between lightweight and heavy pot fillers.
