About this deal

Cinnamon Toast Crunch (CTC), [1] known as Croque-Cannelle in French Canada and Curiously Cinnamon in the UK (previously Cinnamon Grahams), and as a variant called Cini Minis in other European and Latin American countries, is a brand of breakfast cereal produced by General Mills and Nestlé. First produced in 1984, [2] the cereal aims to provide the taste of cinnamon toast in a crunch cereal format. The cereal consists of small squares or rectangles of wheat and rice covered with cinnamon and sugar. The cereal is puffed and when immersed in milk, it makes a "snap" noise, similar to Rice Krispies. In most European countries and North America, the product is sold in boxes. In Poland and Russia the cereal is sold in bags. The product was originally marketed outside Europe with the mascot of a jolly baker named Wendell. Wendell was replaced as a mascot by the "Crazy Squares", sentient Cinnamon Toast Crunch squares that often eat each other in commercials. Cinnamon Toast Crunch Product List". Something about quarantine life has left me wanting all the nostalgic foods from my past. Is that weird? I don’t know, but I sure am having a lot of fun creating (and improving) on the boxed foods we all ate (and loved) growing up. Well, I don’t know for sure. It’s been a while since I had my last bowl of cinnamon toast crunch, but this cereal does taste really, really good. And if my memory serves me correctly, yes these taste just like cinnamon toast crunch. But Asher says…better. You can really taste the real cinnamon with undertone flavors of vanilla and sweet butter. This cereal is also sold in countries outside of the US. It has different names in some locations. For example, in the UK it’s called “Curiously Cinnamon”. In the French Canada region, it’s called “Croque-Cannelle”. And throughout Europe and Latin America, it is known as Cini Minis. In 1997, appealing to adult-oriented programming, a campaign featured the slogan "The adult thing to do", mostly centering on "adult" things reverting to children's, including cereal (for instance, a fictional "adult" cereal named "Health Pellets" is replaced with Cinnamon Toast Crunch). This was changed in 2004 to "Breakfast on a whole other level", which was replaced with "Crave those crazy squares" in 2009. [ citation needed] Spin-offs [ edit ] In 2018, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros were introduced. The cereal has the same cinnamon sugar flavor as the original but is shaped like a mini churro. [15] A chocolate version soon followed, and was introduced in 2021 to the UK as Curiously Cinnamon Churros.

Method

Cinnamon Toast Crunch was created by a scientist named John Mendesh. He worked closely with Elisabeth Trach, who was the assistant product manager at General Mills at the time. The idea was taken from a contest that the company had run. Kids could submit their favorite idea for cereal and be entered to win a prize. This was one idea submitted and they put it to use. The cinnamon adds flavor directly to the dough. The butter creates a flaky bite, the vanilla adds flavor, and the sugar sweetens it all up. Start by mixing together the cinnamon and sugar. See, super simple. Finally, you bake. No chilling needed, just bake for a little over ten minutes, the smells are wonderful. You can eat warm, but these are best once cool. As they cool they become crunchy and so delish.

Now, they are puffed, cinnamon and sugar swirls are added, and they have a flavor that is primarily unmatched by any other cereal in comparison. Who Owns Cinnamon Toast Crunch? Overall, Cinnamon Toast Crunch is the only one that has reliably stayed on the market through the years. Currently, you can find churros, Rolls, French Toast, and the original for sure. The early advertising that began used bakers named Wendell, Bob, and Quello for marketing. They were animated and they acted as the mascots for many years. At some point, they narrowed it to just one baker, keeping only Wendell for marketing purposes. CNN (24 March 2021). "See what man says he found in his cereal". Introduction

The incident was covered internationally by multiple major news outlets, who were critical of the company's response. [21] [22] [23] See also [ edit ] Originally, the cereal was plain squares but currently features cinnamon-colored swirling on each piece. It was invented by scientist John Mendesh and General Mills assistant product manager Elisabeth Trach after receiving the idea from an unnamed child in a "give us your best idea for a cereal" radio contest held by General Mills. The child received a set of Hot Wheels toys as a grand prize. Starting in 1985 there were three animated bakers as the mascots, one of which is named Wendell. The other two bakers, known as Bob and Quello, were considerably more youthful in appearance than Wendell. In 1991, the younger bakers were dropped, leaving Wendell as the sole mascot for several years. One significant event that happened more recently is the saga where a shrimp tail was found in someone’s box of cereal. If you watch the media or social media, you likely saw these conversations and the craze that is caused at the time. The early slogans for the company came were much later than the three bakers but all three bakers were still present. It was about 1995 when they created their first tagline “the taste you can see”.

In the cereal industry, this is actually more common with some of the big name cereals but it’s also not uncommon to see even cereal change hands in ownership several times, particularly when they have been around for 40 years. It is true that General Mills and Nestle partner together for Cereal Partners Worldwide but this particular cereal falls under the General Mills umbrella. There are some that are made to resemble it in the Cereal Partners Worldwide categories, though. How Did Cinnamon Toast Crunch Get its Name? Now, mix up the dough. I like using the food processor to easily mix the dough and create the flakiest, crunchiest cereal, but you can simply use your hands as well. Once the dough is mixed, it’s time to roll it out. Once the dough is rolled out, I then transfer it to a sheet of parchment paper, brush with butter, and sprinkle with that cinnamon sugar. At this point, cut the dough into little tiny squares.
