About this deal

Vivienne Charles fantasizes about being taken by force, a desire that frightens and shames her as a survivor of sexual assault. Jonah Marks has his own fantasies about force, and when he approaches Vivienne and suggests a mutually beneficial relationship that will satisfy both their fantasies, they enter into a relationship that is more than a little twisted. But when emotions and past secrets catch up with them, everything starts to unravel. I loved Asking for It because Pace’s discussion of rape fantasies, speaking through the voice of Vivienne’s therapist, was unapologetically honest. Comfort Object by Annabel Joseph J. Roberts was born and brought up in Southern California, where she also graduated from high school. When that was done, Roberts to join the United States Air Force in the year of 1998 – utilizing this date, one can perhaps infer that Robert was born between 1978 and 1980, though the data is inconclusive.

I love Hades, he has always been one of my favorites and I was really curious to see how the author would incorporate this huge change into his story. Not a lot of people are willing to take a risk like this and change the gender of a beloved character so shout out to Lianyu for taking a risk! Side note- I read a review from someone claiming that there are "graphic” rape scenes and abuse and honesty it’s misleading. Everyone has a level of dark that they’re comfortable with. This freaking series. I swear. This is the first of three books in the Dark Duet series, and it is something. Caleb is a man intent on revenge. His own past has been one of slavery and mistreatment, so he has no qualms about inflicting the same on someone else for the sake of his vengeance. Olivia Ruiz is just a beautiful, easy target. It’s nothing personal. But when Caleb finds himself irresistibly attracted to his captive, all those carefully laid plans for revenge slowly start to come apart. Twist Me by Anna Zaires The number of people that Caleb has kidnapped isn’t exactly clear. What is clear is that Olivia is far from being the first. The reason for capturing Olivia is because he sees her being an exceedingly attractive and beautiful female, though impoverished.I liked Persephone a lot. Life just keeps beating her down at every turn but she was so resilient and strong. I appreciate that she stood her ground and was not afraid to go toe to toe with Hades. Hades herself is a whole different thing. She’s an enigma and so hard to figure out. Again, she does awful things to Persephone so I can’t say that she was someone I particularly liked but she made for a very interesting character. There’s some damn hot sex scenes in this and I did like seeing them bond. What Persephone endured for centuries at the hand of her mother explains in part her attitude towards Hades. Another glimpse into what drives her can be found in Breathless: An F/F Hades and Persephone Short Story, a companion short story to this one: “Persephone was still a goddess. She turned toward worship as a daisy turned toward Helios”. The sex scenes are graphic, well-written, and right up my alley as a self-admitted kinkster. They expertly straddle the line between the fantasies of dubious consent (specifically, the “wedding night” trope) that many queer women have, but don’t always feel safe exploring in media made by and for cis, straight men. Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

I was sold without even reading the blurb lol. This is my first book by this author, I’m not entirely sure if it’s her first published book so don’t quote me on this but I believe that it is. With her tears and pleas for freedom ignored by pitiless Hades, Persephone must learn to satisfy her keeper in all ways, lest she suffer the consequences.

List Chapter or Page:

Persephone is her victim. She is forced into a marriage without her knowledge or consent, she is humiliated, routinely physically hurt in various ways, and sexually abused in various ways. Still, when Hades pulls her into the dark realm of the underworld, Persephone longs for the world above, even if it means an eternity under her mother’s thumb. There's no complexity, no moral gleamed from this mess. It's basically just snuff for people I would not want to associate with.

This wasn't what I expected, but overall I enjoyed it. The writing and worldbuilding were lush and gorgeous, and it definitely felt more of a dark fantasy novel with a romance subplot than a dark romance. CWs: Extreme emotional & physically abuse from a parent, dub-con leaning towards non-con, maybe a few other things but those were the big ones.I received an ARC copy of the new audiobook and loved it just as much this time around. The narrator does a fantastic job and really fits the tone of the story well! If you're in for some steamy, dark, lesbian romance, look no further. As always with LT's books, MIND THE TRIGGER WARNINGS - they're no joke!

The new 30,000 word novella Determined to Obey, featuring secondary characters Kid, Felipe, and Celia. Note: There is a whipping scene later on, but it is plot-related rather than sexualized. If this is triggering for you, maybe give the book a pass.)When our hapless protagonist Olivia happens to walk out of the drugged slumber she was forced into, she realizes that her life has taken as sharp a turn as she could ever have expected. She is bound to her bed with a rope. In her general proximity is a complete stranger that refers to her as his pet, while he is to be regarded as the Master.
