About this deal

I was so surprised and delighted by how this book brought together learnings from spiritual connectivity greats such as Wayne Dyer, Joe Dispenza to classic business leaders such as Peter Drucker, Napoleon Hill to contemporary business people like Lewis Howes, Grant Cardone and many more to bring home the fact that we are capable beyond belief in the now. You’re probably familiar with the famous passage from Theodore Roosevelt that stated, “It is not the critic who counts.

These self-dubbed “positive psychologists” provided an almost polar opposite explanation for human behavior: that human beings weren’t pushed by their past; they were pulled by their future. Whatever your goals for your future self are, a time will come when you’ll need to bite the bullet and “finish” them – despite how imperfect and incomplete they may seem. We need to get into the arena and start taking action, rather than remaining stuck in analysis paralysis. At the core, this book talks about reverse engineering your future and start talking necessary steps towards it. Benjamin Hardy outlines the seven threats to your future self, the seven truths about your future self, and the seven steps to making this transformation a reality. I only got about a fifth of the way through the book before it started to feel redundant, and I stopped reading. The story you create about past events dictates what your past means to your present and your future self. It's the answer to whether you'll distract yourself on social media for hours, whether you'll eat junk food, and what time you get up in the morning.

He talks a lot about mindfulness throughout this, and I can see some of what he means, but I understand the term very differently. Remain inspired by arming yourself with the truths about your future self – including the distinction between the different versions of you and the role of belief in God. Although I do not agree with his theological view of God and the concept of human beings becoming gods or goddesses, I understand that an enlightened view of God is important. There was also some interesting “trivia” that I learned through examples of well known people used in the book.
