About this deal

Portia wants her brother to publish one of her books, but with titles like “Lady Chatterley’s Chauffeur” Bomber has a real problem endorsing her plagiarised writing efforts.

As the end nears, he bequeaths his secret life’s mission to his unsuspecting assistant, Laura, leaving her his house and and all its lost treasures, including an irritable ghost. As the dark cloud engulfing her lifts, Laura, accompanied by her new companions, sets out to realize Anthony’s last wish: reuniting his cherished lost objects with their owners.

A sometimes poignant, sometimes funny but always heartfelt page-turner, The Keeper of Lost Things turned out to be exactly the book I was looking for. I’ll always wonder when I look down and see little lost objects that we sometimes run across, about the person who lost it . At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. The Keeper Of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan starts by introducing the reader to elderly gentle man Anthony, a man living alone in a home he shared with his wife. This book was conceived when she got cancer in 2012 and the insomnia-fueled writing produced the keeper of lost things.

In fact, I doubt anyone would want to claim Portia, the one actual sibling of a main character, as family. At first, it was somewhat confusing to listen to, as the POVs and storylines change with each chapter.

While Sunshine struggles to sometimes be understood, she does have a rather special ability of getting visions from the lost objects. Though Anthony's compulsion for collecting lost things to find peace and work through his grief did seem a bit over exaggerated eg a button isn't something people might even remember losing let alone try to find again. delightful, charming, comic, intelligent, magical, fantastical, lacy, decorous, cultivated, sweet, courteous, cordial, romantic, mysterious, quirky, touching, sad, humorous, warm, enchanting, lovely, cozy – these are all words that have been used to describe this story, and it is all that, and perhaps more.
