Apparently the world capital of whisky in the mid-19th century, Campbeltown now only has a fraction of the distilleries that were producing at its height, and Glen Scotia appears to be the largest. Alongside Springbank and Glengyle, it is one of only three remaining distilleries in Campbeltown and draws its water from the nearby Crosshill Loch. Sweet start and quite fat and though the alcohol gives a little tongue-tingling buzz the result is a good mid-palate weight.

Aged in a combination of refill bourbon barrels and refill American oak hogsheads, the finest of which have been personally selected by Glen Scotia’s expert team, before a six-month finish in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, this elegant addition to Glen Scotia’s range is a smooth and aromatic dram ideal for whisky connoisseurs. Whether as a cherished whisky gift or a personal tasting adventure, they capture the spirit of this legendary whisky region. Don't worry about the lack of age statement - I am by no means an expert, but would guesstimate that this is made from barrels aged for around 8 years, as there's very little of the raw youthful tang of alcohol spirit and wood juice even at 46% ABV.
