Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise (Nintendo Switch)

I don’t normally exercise my upper body, so I was feeling the burn when I first started this game, as many will. Whether it’s either watching or participating in sports, I tend to avoid most things related to them. Several features are included in this instalment, including a two-player mode, an alarm function, and the ability to turn off boxing moves. We don't know if it's our imagination, but on some songs, it felt like we went completely off the beat, as while we were still getting Perfects on our punch timing, everything just sounded a bit off.

You’ll get a ‘Perfect’ if you time it perfectly, an ‘OK’ if your timing is a little off, or a ‘Miss’ if you… well, miss. I found myself burning around 400-600 calories (by the game’s estimation) after a 45 minute workout. The default coach is Lin, and there is a total of 5 other coaches (3 female and 2 male), each with customizable appearances. That mainstream success didn’t seem to stick around too long, though, and the Switch was bereft of major gamercising software until 2018’s Fitness Boxing.

After your workout is complete, you’re then scored on how accurate your punches were – and that’s more or less it, really. To start the purchasing process, it is necessary to sign in with the Nintendo Account and the Nintendo Network ID.

If you're going all-out, weaving and throwing straights at the apex of the workouts (last 44 seconds of each side on phase 2 of the drill), it can be a magical 10.

While this title won’t win any awards for visual fidelity, the graphics get the job done and they are far more detailed here than in the original. Fitness Boxing veterans certainly won’t, especially since they can transfer their progress over from the last game. Initially announced on January 31st, 2020, Niantic announced it would begin testing new types of events during February 2020 – Pokémon Spotlight Hour and Mystery Bonus Hour. Though, it does feel like the game rewards you with tickets for every little single action you perform. The game can get a bit stale if you play it everyday, but if you use it to mix up other forms of cardio, or even on your off days from your regular Ring Fit Adventure workout, the game can certainly help you attain your fitness goals.
