About this deal

The baths, omg they were so freaking hot, especially because of the building chemistry between them. I also like that there is a skull (or a head) of Orpheus between paragraphs in each chapter, because it tells me that the next POV will switch to either Reia or Orpheus in each chapter. There are a lot of moments where Reia is purposefully obtuse, which was very annoying and had me screaming at her to use her brain. It would be one thing if purity culture was part of the world building, but to have your MC talk about it like scientific fact? The brief companionship does little to ease his loneliness, and their lives were always, unfortunately, cut short.

Reia is ostracized in the village after her whole family is eaten by demons, believing she is bad luck.

Chapter after chapter, as they start to fall in love, I found myself also falling more in love with them. The story did start off a bit slow, but by chapter seven I was hooked and absolutely devoured the story. Just because Reia likes Orpheus and doesn't see him as a monster doesn't mean Katerinas trauma and revulsion to him isn't valid. By slow, I mean there were a lot of scenes of Reia and Orpheus' day to day life and so much inner dialogue with Orpheus and Reia constantly questioning themselves and mentioning how much they like each other. Most books in the genre are stuck on one level of monster fuckery; humanoid in shape and very, very large, when there exists an entire pyramid of monster lover levels.

But instead of seeing this point of view, Reia legit blames her since Katerina "never voiced her wants, had never denied Orpheus, simply because she was too blind to see he would have stopped touching if she has just simply said no.So for five years, in her mind, Katerina was a prisoner being raped, biding her time till she could escape. This was thoroughly enjoyable with a few hiccups but they didn’t do much to deteriorate my pleasure. He is both every horrible thing Reia has ever imagined him to be, but funnily enough is also one of the sweetest and the most thoughtful creatures she’s ever known, showing her more kindness than her own people ever had. This one might not have the most original premise but the world building, the demons are very original. She's portrayed as some slutty, greedy ex-girlfriend who abandoned poor unloved Orpheus when she's actually just a survivor of some horrific kidnapping and assault who's turned her life around with a new partner who treats her better.

Whatever he eats, a bit of it is absorbed and because he's eaten so many humans, he's slowly developing human traits but he can't stop himself because he's constantly hungry.

With the addition of a good editor, she could compete with the big name PNR authors, and this would be an automatic 5 ⭐️ read from me. And I’m not like ohhhh I can’t handle that, but it was just done so nonchalantly, it felt almost comical to me.
