About this deal

As the story got on especially into the second half the author was getting me stressed, bringing it back juuuust enough to have me relax just to stress me out and cause me so much emotional damage. Unsurprisingly Adiba does a wonderful job here, balancing four POVs deftly, carefully bending their inter-personal relationships without them ever breaking. If major character deaths are the only thing that are keeping your reader interested, then something is very wrong with your plot. A heart-pounding, romantic adventure from the award-winning author of Hani and Ishu's Fake Guide to Dating . This is where Adiba has full authority, embracing a bit of a hedonistic approach as well, keeping their fates ambiguous until the very end.

She is the winner of the YA book prize 2022, the KPMG Children's Books Ireland Awards 2021, and was a finalist for the 2022 Lambda Literary awards. First of all, this book is set around the events of the Titanic so I knew it was unlikely that everyone was going to make it and let's just say this book caused me emotional damage. Funny, real and heart-meltingly romantic, Annie and Sam’s story is My Fair Lady for the social media age – and the perfect feel-good read. Perfect for fans of Stalking Jack the Ripper and Girl in the Blue Coat, this high-seas heist from the author of The Henna Wars is an immersive story that makes readers forget one important detail--the ship sinks.Kyle disappears in a loss that reverberates through his community, leaving his wife, Tamara, and their children under attack by forces beyond comprehension.

Earlier it’s the shifting dynamics between the girls that build tension as brief chapters in alternating perspectives reveal conflicting interests, hidden motives, and mutual pining. And even though any darker-skinned passengers were simply referred to as “Italians” by crew members, this is simply and obviously not the case. With cunning and dexterity, the four pull off some excellent stunts learning from each other, and more importantly, learning about themselves along the way.But the older Hinnah grew, the more her body developed, the less "proper" it was for Hinnah to spend time with Reza. In this audiobook, a thief, a charmer, a forger, and a contortionist all board the TITANIC in pursuit of a bejeweled book. The scary newbie is Troy “The Bread Man” Forester, a psychopathic torturer and serial killer in the tradition of Hannibal Lecter. Okay, now I want you to forget almost everything I’ve said to this point, because these women, these people who lived and who died, aren’t just numbers, and we shouldn’t reduce them to a statistic, that does them a disservice.

When I think about a heist, I think about the early montage of finding out who the cast is and what their special talents are. He thought he could pretend it never happened… until his lover plummets to her death from their hotel room. Even if none of the above appeals to you, if you hate the consequences of colonialism and the patriarchy, you’ll find something to love in this. Josefa – whose love for women and unwillingness to submit to a man cost her the security of family – wants enough to live on her own terms.

And for the amount of opportunities that Jaigirdar had to develop these four characters, most of them were shockingly underdeveloped. Although aimed at young readers, I think this is more suited for 14 and above because there is a small amount of swearing and some challenging vocabulary. Being the older sibling, and the only family either one has left, she feels responsible for his well-being and would certainly do all she could to facilitate a happy reunion. I was baffled when Josefa referred to the girls as "friends" like 22% into the book because up until that point she'd only known Violet reasonably well since they were roommates at the boarding house, while Hinnah was treated as some obedient lackey.
