About this deal

I keep quiet because one of my summer hosts, Spencer, is waiting, and me getting hauled into secondary screening sits right up there with teeth pulling and gyno exams. The unexpected, lovely group of friends Lila makes along the ride was SO lovely, each of the characters shining with their own dreams and desires, I loved it. My Thoughts: A Cuban Girl’s Guide To Tea And Tomorrow is a cozy, foodie YA romance that at its core is about overcoming grief and discovering one’s self. Orion entertains her with his mental collection of superstitions and sweeps her onto his vintage motorbike.

Synopsis: Teenage master of Cuban cuisine, Lila Reyes, is eager to inherit her family’s Miami bakery along with her sister, Pilar. She gets her chance to show off her baking skills in the kitchen, gets a whirlwind tour of all the small town has to offer, and makes connections that make her feel warmer than the Miami heat.

Lila slowly falls in love with England, its culture, food, tea, and inevitably with our charming British hero. in " The BookBrowse Review" - BookBrowse's membership magazine, and in our weekly " Publishing This Week" newsletter.

Orion is quite knowledgeable about tea and a very cute moment was him trying to figure out Lila’s perfect tea flavor. Bursting with love for home, family, and culture, A Cuban Girl's Guide is an utterly charming read that feels like a treasured recipe that will heal and feed a broken heart.so while this wasn't necessarily a favorite for me, I think that if you like YA romance, this is a pretty perfect example of the genre and I do recommend! I picture my sister’s pert smile and her calm, rational eyes and wonder how many times she’s texted. I adored this sugar-sweet novel that made me laugh, cry and wish on a happy ending for a girl with big dreams and a star-named boy. Everything was so well crafted, and I love how Laura Taylor Namey took her time developing every aspect of the story.

She lives in San Diego with her husband, two superstar children, and her beloved miniature schnauzer/muse. Find a seat in the parlor while I fetch the tea Polly made for us,” Cate says and gestures to the archway before scooting off. It’s full of sweetness (with not too much sugar), a top notch romantic relationship, letting go friendships, but forming new ones, and tons of cooking and baking. And I don’t want to say that Lila’s reaction is disproportionate, because everyone responds to upheaval in different ways. Her favourite tea, the one she’ll turn to when she needs it, which, as an avid tea drinker who has at least 20 different types of tea in her cupboard at any given time, I absolutely loved. Namey made Lila’s England summer feel so fleshed out, taking time to focus on all the personal, emotional layers to her story where your left understanding all of her hopes, desires, fears and goals for the future.

This is something that really frustrated me and I couldn't for the life of me fall in love with the rest of the book because of this.

As I discovered all throughout Heathrow Terminal Five, my white jeans, gold sandals, and flimsy hot pink tank aren’t typical choices for England vacations, even in early summer. I think it's been filmed for more than a year, and we still don't know when it will be released, nobody says anything, in fact I think it was filmed before Heartstopper season two was filmed. She had a friend, Stephanie (might be the wrong spelling because I listened to the audiobook) who planned to leave their plans to attend uni together for a program of sorts in "a village in Africa".
