The scent is a simple thin veil of smoky salty sweet pineapple popcorn, and the jewel in its depths is a slightly funky authentic oud note which I haven't smelled in any western oud fragrance. I prefer to smell this on a man (or scent my home with it) than to wear it myself, the smell of burning woods is abit much for me, eventhough I find the ambery-vanilla aspect of it absolutely, deliciously gorgeous, I just love sweet ambery scents. Something about it has a scratchy steeliness, which I realise makes no sense unless you’ve actually tried Sehr el Kalemat for yourself. Oud is here in trace amounts, if not then this a brilliant iteration of a Oud like accord plus some amber and myrh, but the traces of Oud are just there to give a luxurious warm hugging affect and make the fragrance Middle-Eastern smelling. Guys now that I have wore it for some time, let me tell u this is strong, distinctive and totally versatile frag. If it comes to oud, certain images occur in the western consumer's mind, mainly of dark and opulent 1001-nights romanticism. Every time I open the book case type of cover / package I feel like I am revealing to my self something rather enchanting. As always with anything involving Arabian Oud, it’s an utter nightmare trying to get concrete, definitive, set details on the fragrance. The berry note is interesting because, to my nose, it smells identical to the blueberry purée that the original Kalemat opens with, along with the merest whiff of something verging on raspberry. Between Patchouli flower, violet and bottom Albergmot wonderful mixed layer through a mixture of vanilla and touches of Oud eventually subside on the bottom of musk and amber luxury. Although it would shine in cold weather but the smell is so addicting and I think it comes alive on me in the heat. Thanks for trying this flanker – I would imagine any comparison to Kalemat would be a bit disappointing, but it sounds like even without being able to reference Kalemat that this would still be unremarkable. I also want to emphasize yet again that my skin amplifies base notes, and tends to increase sweeter elements in a fragrance.

I sprays some on my arm which got onto my jacket sleeve and I can still smell it on the jacket after a week! After a few hours the vanilla gently resides to give place to Arabian Oud's familiar mouth watering, glowing, thick ambery notes ingeniously balanced by tamed smoky oud.
