About this deal

All the spell components clearly define who the target of the spell is (such as the person to your left, or the character with the most hit points). You will unleash massive damage on the faces of your wizard rivals in a no-holds-barred, all-out burn-down to be the last Battle Wizard standing. Spells wear down your opponents' hit points, and set you up to win the match, earning you the coveted title of Last Wizard Standing. Does the wording refer to the person drawing the card having a token or one being held by someone in the game? I would have preferred all of the symbols to be at the top of the card, though, where they'd have been easier to see at a glance.

Play time is largely dependant on how may Wizards are involved in the Epic Spell War, and how familiar everyone is with the rules, but a game with four people relatively knowledgeable with the cards can spend a fun and gloriously gory half hour to forty-five minutes. The variety in the game comes from the individual card effects, and that's not something the rules cover directly, that's just a matter of reading your cards and putting together a clever combo to blast the living crap out of your friends. It was out of print for the last couple of years so I've been watching like a hawk for this bad boy to be released again, and thankfully nothing's changed.Unfortunately I recieved the game and I recieved the incorrect number of cards and some didn't even exist. Once you have read the first two pages of the Epic Spell Wars rule book (these pages contain no rules) the scene is set. That's probably pretty uncommon, but in later rounds when you and your opponents are all very wounded, you might try to cast a fast spell, hoping to kill them before their spell can go off. It’s an all-out battle to the death for the Annihilageddon trophy in the crazy world of Epic Spell Wars!

Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Annihilageddon Deck-Building Game is definitely the longest title of a game I have ever written a review for!

As a Battle Wizard, you’ll put together up to three spell components to craft millions (okay, not really) of spell combos.

Even though we dropped the wizard voices about halfway through it was fun to try different voices and read the spells.

Bragging rights and the adoration of fans accompany the glory of annihilating your foolish opponents, rendering them into splattered puddles of goo while you stride triumphantly atop their bones! My group is not usually into rpg type games where you do damage and have to think about your moves in advance.

As each spell is revealed, the Wizard who cast it reads the name of the spell in her best eldritch voice, announcing something like, "I cast Bleemax Braniac's Mind- Altering Gore-nado on your feeble hide! This is all balanced by the fact that you choose to use specific cards that target the people you want to target, it's just a more limited possibility (and another element of tactical play).Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Hijinx at Hell High, the fifth Epic Spell Wars title, brings all the spell-crafting and trademark over-the-top humor and art to the world of high school.
