About this deal

I liked the final idea of living (and indeed dying) for those you love and taking a more positive view, whatever your situation and cherishing what you have.

Still a strong four-star read for me - a great collection of books which will no doubt be treasured on readers' bookshelves for many years, together with other great YA series like Harry Potter and His Dark Materials - 9/10. I felt like these last two books were trying to turn the series into a thriller, when that's never what it has been. The cliffhanger ending will leave fans desperately awaiting the next installment' Mail on Sunday, 'Must-Read Books of the year, 2019' on Crossfire . Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Josephine Langford reprise their roles as the tormented - and often antagonistic - lovers with many casting changes. The attempt to introduce a whodunnit storyline to a series that really didn’t need it, felt terribly forced and added nothing to the series as a whole.

The premise of this book, a world in which race is reversed, was what initially drew me to it as it sounded like an interesting and dystopian concept. The books, written primarily for a young adult audience, have been written and published over a 21-year period meaning many readers have grown up with the books and have long-awaited its conclusion, while other readers may be experiencing the series for the first time. Little Bang, Kelly McCaughrain ( paperback Jan 2024) €10,95 A bittersweet Northern Irish romance that takes a new look at teen pregnancy, the magic and mess of first relationships, and a young woman's right to choose her own future. I enjoyed how, as in the other books in the series, the news articles were weaved into the story, giving you a sense of what was occurring in society and politics. Her best-loved books include the highly acclaimed Noughts and Crosses sequence and Pig Heart Boy, which also became a major BBC TV series. This became more apparent when none of the characters are effected or reflected on these news stories in the overall plot.

I still stand by the first book being unbeatable, but the entire series has been incredible and told so well it was as though it was happening before me. Since Checkmate, I’ve had an instant dislike to this pairing and that’s only been solidified in this book. This made Endgame so heart-wrenching to read – I was not prepared for all the emotions that would come with the end of this incredible series. The action shifts from character to character, and there was - on occasion - a sense of deliberate attempts to misdirect us.
