Can't add much to the published spec or to what is already known about Victorinox fit and finish or that, of course, it is sharp out of the box. At under 3 inches long, it is legal to carry in the UK, but only if you have a good reason to do so – something worth considering carefully before wandering around with a knife.

Since the Compact has a combo tool and the Explorer (as well as the Yeoman, Wrenchman, Cyber Tool, etc) already has(have) an in-line Philips, I never actually used the can opener as a screwdriver. The main blade is also stainless, and sharpened to a razor edge, making quick work of cutting anything from packaging and envelopes, tape, or opening food packaging. For my purposes, a key ring attachment wasn’t needed, and one such as this, which sticks out rather bluntly at one end of the knife was definitely not wanted, as it could conceivably, over time, damage the fabric of whatever pockets it was being carried in. I know it’s a tool and tools are meant to be used and get scuff marks and bruises, but I can’t justify wrecking or marring something I consider to be an irreplaceable part of my collection. The thin layer of oxide provides a hard, fairly tough, corrosion-resistant protective layer to the scales.Performance has always been a strongpoint for Victorinox Swiss Army knives of all styles, and the Pioneer X is no different.
