About this deal

Sound is cohesive and well integrated, the benefits of the single dynamic driver, while decay seems to be a tad more rushed on the higher frequencies that sound ethereal and slightly thinner. The diaphragm is ¼ lighter than Beryllium or aluminum, which is what I feel should be the industry standard these days, not just for tensile strength, but also for raw purity and fidelity. The semi-open design of the FD3/FD3 Pro on FiiO's patented technology for balanced air pressure within brings several advantages. Not only does such a design lead to more natural sound. but it also effectively protects your hearing by balancing air pressure within the FD3/FD3 Pro leading to less pressure on your eardrums. This makes your listening experience less tiring and the sound less forced. The acoustic prism so effectively used in the flagship FD5 for great sound quality is also featured in the FD3 Pro. Like with the FD5, the acoustic prism system brings numerous benefits

Comparisons

The FD3/FD3 Pro benefits from the numerous advantages of FiiO's new dynamic driver. The diaphragm is made of Diamond-Like Carbon(DLC) which is both impressively rigid and helps The detachable cable comes with a 3.5mm Single Ended (TRS) headphone plug that has a L angled housing made of plastic material that features a strain relieve for extra durability. to reduce unneeded distortion yet also surprisingly light, allowing the driver to have excellent transient response. The result is a driver with excellent sound quality and minimal distortion with the added bonus of being ultra-sensitive. FD3 does not isolate very much from the outside noise, having an open design, and a passive noise isolation between 10 and 15 dB of passive noise isolation. We have very low leakage though, and I was unable to annoy my girlfriend with loud death metal, even though she was just 2 meters away from me, and I was listening at a deafening 110dB level.

The bass problem was successfully solved but now the higher frequencies sounded a touch forward and not as smooth as with the "red" tube the balanced ear tips. The monitor sports a protruding part with the MMCX (Micro Miniature Coaxial) female connectors on the top and the unique semi-open acoustic opening at the bottom. Both on the top and the bottom are left and right color indicators, from which the blue one is on the left and red on the right side of the monitor. But in contrast the FD3 sounds fuller and more cohesive throughout the whole frequency range, with a natural decay and timbre whether the FH3 is quite rushed and not that well integrated while the timbre is slightly metallic and artificial. first, a good source like a DAC/AMP or a DAP, I’d suggest something small and simple like the KA5, iBasso’s DC04 Pro or ddHiFi TC44C; As a big fan of single dynamic driver, especially DLC, let see in this review if it deliver good sound for it’s price. CONSTRUCTION There are a few fundamental differences regarding the tonality and the FH3 ( review) is slightly more extended on the sub bass with less mid bass emphasis so it is to be considered the most neutral in the lower registers.

With the FiiO FD11, the brand steps down from the ultra-wide 14.2mm DD found in the FF5, to put smaller, but still wide, 10mm dynamic driver. Topping the brand’s armature IEM range, the FiiO FA7S has all the bells and whistles you could ask for 6 balanced armature drivers, a 3-way crossover system, 316L steel chassis, and a whole new tuning for exceptional sound performances. Since the FD3’s shells are made of an aluminum-magnesium alloy, it’s on the lighter side. The overall size of the shells themselves are also smaller than most other IEMs. This makes sure that the FD3 can easily fit most ears and remain comfortable. What are the specifics of the brand new FD3 diaphragm? What are the differences from that of the FD5? Founded in 2007, FiiO has steadily risen year after year from a relatively small brand that manufactures portable headphone amplifiers to become one of the biggest companies in the audiophile industry.

Synergy

FIIO as we all know it, is a Chinese company highly invested in the audiophile market. They have lots of impressive products and continue to impress the entire audiophile industry with their budget end to other highly priced products. Today we are going to take a look at a cheaper yet pretty good offering – THE FIIO FD3 As FiiO’s naming convention suggests, the FD3 houses a dynamic driver. The dynamic driver inside the FD3 is a 12mm dynamic driver that is driven by a magnetic circuit with a 1.5 Tesla magnetic flux density paired with an ultra-fine copper-clad aluminum Japanese Daikoku voice coil. Without having an outer PVC sheath, the cable is soft throughout the entire length virtually eliminating any possibility of microphonics. So on-the-go listening would be as quiet as possible on a pair of wired IEMs.

With most dynamic drivers, it’s typical to hear a roll-off, particularly with the sub-bass region. However, with the FD3, it isn’t as pronounced as I have come to expect. I think this is partly due to the frequency response rating of the FD3, where it starts at 10Hz, which allows it to roll off at a lower frequency than usual.

The lower treble region offers a good sense of clarity and definition when I do listen to instruments such like snare drums or violins that do also sounds crisp and lively, while the extension is on a moderate level. I was immediately impressed with the pleasing and engaging mid range, the smooth and inoffensive highs, the full and slightly boosted bass, which unfortunately sounded a little boomy, hollow and uncontrolled. The rear shell of the monitors has Left and Right markings and do feature a slightly angled sound nozzle with a fine metal mesh on the top to prevent the insertion of particles like dust or earwax. The FiiO FH11 is a closed dual-driver hybrid IEM with a 10mm dynamic carbon-based diaphragm. On top of that, they have a custom Balanced driver for treble needs. The bass character of the FiiO FD3 is in general pretty soft, warmish, well-bodied and entertaining. It is able to produce a great sense of subbass depth, quantity with a fairly fast response and decay thanks to the well-adjusted 12mm diameter dynamic driver with a DLC Diaphragm. The tonality is nicely warm, bold and soft, while the level of control is pretty good when I do listen to songs like Bro Safari, UFO! “Drama”, Christian Reindl’s “Cernunnos” or Lorde’s “Royals”.
