About this deal

This author, whether a rising star or a seasoned veteran, has crafted the pages that whisk readers away on this series' journey. Oh my I loved this book it holds so many secrets and tales that will keep you gripped into the story as you read. Living hand to mouth ever since her mother’s tragic death, Amelia sells the last of her treasured possessions to avoid being cast out of her home onto London’s streets. Then Aurelia Blanchard arrives unannounced from Cornwall and convinces Nancy to a trip to London but abandons her to make her own way to the station. Befriended by Ned Hawkes and his kindly mother, Clemency struggles to escape from life in the slums of Stew Lane.

Well, life certainly isn't dull at Rockwood as the Careys and the Blanchards rub along reluctantly with Piers' grandmother constantly reminding the Careys that they are there only at the generous behest of Piers insinuating that he can take away his consent at any time. With their father dead and their mother a stranger to them, she must stay at home and keep house whilst her elder siblings go out to work. as a young girl watches from the cliffs, her brother runs back to the castle and she is left alone in the dark. When Rosalind and Patricia travel to Cornwall to Piers' own sprawling estate in which his younger sister and his grandmother live, she is shocked to discover that someone has laid claim to the estate and the clay mine which Piers runs lest a scandalous secret about the family be revealed.London, 1854: twenty-year-old Essie Chapman lives with her father in poverty stricken Limehouse, working on the river as a boatman. Until the dashing Piers Blanchard appears on their doorstep from Cornwall, claiming that he is the rightful owner of Rockwood Castle. And so with one more book in this series left "Dolly's Dream" I look forward to reading Dolly's story as she grows into a woman from the child we've seen of her thus far.

When Hetty Huggins made a promise to her dying mother that she would look after her younger sister and brothers, little did she know how difficult this would be. A dashing man I’ve thought of as the hero suddenly develops unattractive traits and upsets me as well as my heroine. Since the untimely death of her husband, young mother Effie Grey has been forced to live on a narrowboat owned by her tyrannical, crippled father in law Jacob.Perfect for Downton Abbey fans … heart-tugging’ Peterborough Telegraph You may also be interested in. Her novels all span the same subgenre, characterised by family affairs, love and secrecy, with undercurrents of social commentary on class divide. Dilly Court is best known for her dramatic family sagas of domestic-romance fiction, but has also written several standalone novels in the same genre. Each book represents a chapter in the broader narrative, introducing new twists, turns, and perhaps the occasional talking dragon (disclaimer: dragons depend on the genre).

Here she becomes a parlour maid and catches the eye of an elderly, retired army officer, Hubert Kettle. Absolutely loved this story, I read a review on here that said it was rubbish, as I was reading I kept thinking about the review, I can’t believe we were reading the same book, top marks as usual Dilly. But circumstances compel her to flee with no references and only a few personal possessions to her name. Although she is the legal owner of Greystone Park she had no intention of living there but if she wishes to marry Freddie then she must agree to Lord Dorrington's condition. From this major talent in saga writing, author of Mermaids Singing; The Co*ckney Sparrow; A Mother’s Courage and The Constant Heart comes this compelling new story set in turn of the twentieth century London.

This author is amazing I've read every book she has written im so glad my friend told me about her this one was quite lovely and romantic. Leaving her mother and younger brother and sister behind, Stella goes to a big country house outside London. This is a great story - my only reservation would be that the reader should have read the previous two books in this series to make complete sense of all the plots. But Felicia Carey is a selfish woman, believing her voice is her God-given gift that she must share with the world and her home is no longer Rockwood but the stage.

What they don't realise is that Nancy has no money on her which is why she was walking through the unknown streets of London alone. She turned the picture of the Christmas card over with her frozen hands, a pretty picture of a family gathering at Yuletide. Virtually destitute and desperate, Eloise is faced with her worst nightmare: she must either go to the workhouse, or abandon her children at the Foundling Hospital. The characters are well-crafted, and the setting is full of historical details that immerse the reader in the story. So when an impoverished actress offers her a lifeline, Dolly flees to London, determined to make it on the stage and prove to her family - and herself - that she can strike out alone.
