About this deal

Overall, 'Well Done, Mommy Penguin' is a must-have for any family with young children. It's a beautiful book that both parents and kids will love to read together again and again. So go ahead and add it to your library - you won't be disappointed! Bestselling author Alexandra Christo, author of TikTok sensation To Kill a Kingdom, introduces her new book, The Night Hunt (Hot Key Books), a dark... Chris Haughton’s distinctive graphic illustrations and bold blue colour palette bring lots of humour and expression to this suspenseful story. Children can follow the story easily even without the text, although the use of text repetition is brilliant as it adds to the anticipation. Seeing Mummy’s adventure from Little Penguin’s point of view also brings us much closer to the action and will likely have little readers cheering on Mummy Penguin too! The endpapers of this book break with Chris Haughton’s normal style – silhouetted figures against an atmospheric landscape, and these invite prediction and discussion between adults and children.

Wow! Chris Haughton's 'Well Done, Mommy Penguin' is an absolute gem of a picture book! From the beautiful illustrations to the heartwarming story, it's a joy to read and a delight for both parents and children. Since 2013, myself and another unnamed illustrator have been working on a scale model of the solar system. It began with a conversation one evening in Spain. I was working on a book about scaleat the time which zooms from a tiny mouse all the way out to the planets and the stars and a conversation was had wondering if any scale modelsolar systems had been made. The models on google all looked quite uninspiring and it was decided to make one ourselves.

More books for age 3+

There’s no question that books from Chris Haughton’s pen (stylus?) are modern children’s classics, like the wonderful A Bit Lost (2010) and 2014’s Shh! We Have a Plan. The London-based Irish illustrator and author’s blend of humour and his distinctive style is always a joy. His latest offering Well Done, Mummy Penguin - an ode to resilient mammies and the lengths they go to for their families - is another gorgeous string to his bow.

A version of thisproject is now launching. It is being funded by the UK Government, as part of the Brexit Festival. I hadno part in the submission. As you can imagine, as an EU citizen I’m not too happy about this. However itdoes give me the opportunity to share my ownwork hereand so hopefullybringmy own version of thisto life. What's more, the message of the book is truly heartwarming. It's a story of love, dedication, and perseverance, and it's a perfect reminder of just how much parents do for their children. The book shows that even when things get tough, a mother's love can conquer all. The winners of the Diverse Book Awards 2023 have been announced, with one winner from each of the four categories announced: Picture book, Children... Mummy Penguin is going out and leaving Daddy Penguin and Little Penguin, but where is she going, and will she return? In this simple and joyous story, Daddy Penguin takes on the role of looking after Little Penguin while courageous Mummy Penguin hunts for dinner. But her task is not without its dangers, all watched by Little Penguin and Daddy Penguin. This is a simple narrative, reminiscent of classics like Michael Rosen’s We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, Martin Waddell’s Owl Babies and the more recent Astro Girl by Ken Wilson-Max. The ending is wonderful, a question which suggests that Mummy Penguin’s work is not yet done.Dapo Adeola, Tracy Darnton, Joseph Coelho and Chitra Soundar are among the 19 authors and illustrators longlisted for the Inclusive Books for Child... Seats in rows K-V and Box 1are 42cm (161/2 “) wide and 45cm (172/3“) deep, 47 cm (181/2“) from the floor, and have 6cm (21/3“) gap between seats. Brought to life by Can’t Sit Still and the creative team behind Oh No, George!, Well Done, Mummy Penguin features daring acrobatics, integrated sign language and heartwarming humour. A perfect wintery treat for everyone aged 3 and up. Coffee house Caffè Nero has announced the 16-strong shortlist for the inaugural Nero Book Awards, recognising the outstanding books of the past 12... From a distance, Daddy Penguin and Little Penguin watch Mommy Penguin as she gets dinner. While gliding through the water looking for fish, she waves her wing at Little Penguin. Despite the fish being really fast, Mommy Penguin catches one.

Mae darluniau graffig nodweddiadol Chris Haughton yn dod â llawer o hiwmor a mynegiant i'r stori llawn tensiwn hon. Mae plant yn gallu dilyn y stori'n hawdd hyd yn oed heb y testun, er bod ailadrodd y testun yn ychwanegu at y disgwylgarwch. Mae gweld antur Mummy o safbwynt Little Penguin yn fwy tebygol o gael y darllenwyr ifanc i annog Mummy Penguin yn ei blaen hefyd! As a fan, and as a former childcare professional, I’m excited to recommend WELL DONE, MOMMY PENGUIN.I didn’t like the way it waspresenting the dad as going out to sea while the mum stayed at home so I swapped the genders around. The gender swapwas interesting though. When the joke was on a disastrous dad itall seemed funny, but when it’s a disastrous mum it’s somehow not very funny at all,its actually quite alarming. There has been a conversation about how dads getpraised for doing the bare minimum while mums often do the work day in and day out without credit. Thisgender reversal really seemed to underline it. Credit where credit is due. Author Anna Kemp introduces The Hollow Hills, the sequel to her dark magical tale, Into Goblyn Wood.
