About this deal

When Evie challenges him to a bet involving celibacy to show her that he can be monogamous, Sebastian reluctantly agrees, but will this unrepentant scoundrel ever be able to prove that he has fallen in love with her and no other woman will do? Because of that, I could not understand why he had taken such extreme measures when by all accounts his charm and ravishing good looks could have gotten him almost any woman of his choosing. She would share her inheritance if he promises to marry her and take her out of her messed-up domestic situation.

This imperfect, extraordinary, passionate man was hers, his heart given over completely to her safekeeping. May contain moderate to high sexual tension which could include passionate clinches that end in cut scenes and/or extremely mild love scenes with virtually no details. Because there are men out there who take a rich heiress, drug her, try to rape her and force her to marry them. Together they deal with Evie's father's death, the abusive relatives, an assassin out to murder Evie, St.But Evie's dastardly relatives want the inheritance for themselves, and have been doing everything in their power (even keeping her locked up) to keep her under their thumb and away from her father.

From the New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas comes the next title in the beloved romance series The Wallflowers - perfect for fans of Sarah MacLean, Julia Quinn and Eloisa James. Surely this couldn’t be she … the wallflower Evangeline Jenner … alone in a carriage with a dangerous rake, racing madly to Gretna Green. May contain mild to moderate sexual tension and/or possible implications of something more taking place off canvas, but nothing beyond kissing actually occurs within the text. He glanced at Evie and felt the startling reverse of their positions … she, the stammering wallflower, now serene and steady … and he, always so cool and self-possessed, now reduced to an impassioned idiot. While I preferred Lillian's earlier book with her brash personality, this author has collected such a dynamic group of people that each have their own side plot. Evie was a very shy, timid girl who has been abused by her Aunts and Uncles but it seems she has a backbone that shows itself in this storyline. I think Kleypas did a decent job here and I definitely did appreciate the change in the scene as well as tone.

I was *quite* worried that all the men or women were going to start melting together as it tends to happen in large groups. In my opinion, this story was a deeper, slightly darker installment as we watch Evie escape the clutches of her horrid aunt and uncle, and take the necessary steps to remain free of them. I'm normally pretty good at interpreting characters, but in this case, I didn't even realize until the end of the book that Sebastian had some fear about allowing himself to love Evie, so up to that point, his contradictory behavior was just simply confusing and irritating to me. Yes, obviously he is horny as all hell for her, but these small little moments of sweetness never precede him making a move.

A little bit of historical medical practices in a time of changing understanding is sprinkled in too. Vincent, is a larger than life character who has gained a massive fan following among romance readers, but I am sorry to say that I will not be one of the ladies who is panting after this fictional hero. I don't know whether they were originally to be paired, before the Hathaways came into being, but since the next book is about Daisy [without Cam] perhaps the author just wanted to keep us wondering! Her father is a gambling club owner and is dying, but her Aunt and Uncle refuse her wishes to see him. St Vincent was so caring and protective of Evie, and although he didn't realise it at first, his feelings grew and he didn't know how to cope with them. St Vincent tries to explain to Evie why she should be wearing a face mask when near her sick father, and he also pushes back against the doctor’s plan to let blood. He’s very thoughtful and sweet (he kept getting a warming brick for Evie’s cold feet on the carriage ride to Scotland). Ich hatte mich am Ende von "It happened one Autum" auch wirklich gefragt, wie sie den Dreh noch romantisch hinbekommen will.
