The lack of an over-the-shoulder strap is a bit of an inconvenience, but you do get a functional carry handle along with Osprey’s best-in-class backpack carry. In the end, as long as you’re aware of the trade-offs, the Supply is a really nice option to have that will save you some money without making many compromises in terms of durability.

While other bags with reinforced bottom panels would likely hold up better to careless abuse, dragging, or rough handling, the 840-denier nylon is plenty durable for regular use. A good number of these models are carry-on compatible, saving you the time and the potential cost of checking a bag. It includes a decent amount of organization, although it lacks some structure found in other travel backpacks. The carrying comfort of the stowable backpack harness is unmatched, and an additional four oversized and well-padded grab handles provide additional carrying options.

A U-shaped lid of the Transporter makes the bag easier to pack and access its contents without having to dig around. A DWR treatment certainly is a nice feature for everyone using a duffel: The weather is unpredictable when traveling, you never know when your duffel might be sitting on the tarmac for a few extra minutes, and it’s super helpful for outdoor use.

They’re plain webbing straps, like the sternum strap, and don’t add much to the carry comfort, so we’re glad they have slots on either side of the bag to slide in and stay out of the way. For most travel where you will be checking a bag but won’t be bringing bulky outdoor gear, a medium duffel in the 50 to 75-liter range is a good match.
